A Word of Truth and Godliness for Hebron Church: A Study of 1 Timothy

“What is ‘truth?’” In our contemporary culture, Pontius Pilate’s question has the ring of familiarity. More and more areas of our society are comfortable with a relativistic approach to truth; popular assumptions that all faiths and ideologies are valid abound. The notion of an absolute “Truth,” that has bearing on all of life is passé, deemed “out of touch” or “arrogant.” How refreshing to read 1 Timothy! How challenging! For the Apostle Paul proclaims the importance of recognizing the Truth of the Gospel, holding passionately to it, and sharing it with others. Jesus promised that “the truth shall set you free,” and in his letter to Timothy, Paul exhibits an unambiguous commitment to the truthfulness of the Gospel.

Join us Sunday mornings as we study Paul’s first letter to Timothy.

Worship +2

As we come out of a challenging year, we want to share with you a new focus for our future ministry and time here at Hebron Church, called “Worship + 2”, an emphasis on our worship together, plus (1) maturing in our faith and (2) serving in God’s Kingdom. In the weeks to come in the enewsletter, on our website (hebrononline.org), and social media, we will include short videos which help describe this new ministry focus.

Linked here is our SIXTH and FINAL video, which Henry discusses serving faithfully God's Kingdom.

(Be sure to “like” the video, and share it around as much as you can).

cURRENT SERMON SERIES

Advent is upon us! A time of anticipation and expectation as we count down the days to the coming of Christmas. But we can rush through the season, eager just to get to that special day, and forget to “advent” during Advent. We should be experiencing the waiting, the yearning. During these weeks, Christians are to feel the anticipation, the drama and suspense of awaiting God’s action in our lives. For the Israelites, from Moses on, that anticipation focused on the coming of the Messiah, the One whom God would send to free the people from the brokenness of the world. During that time, looking forward to salvation meant looking forward with Hope, with Peace, with Love, and with Joy. Advent anticipation is not just waiting, it is not just passing the time. Advent anticipation is filled with a godly hope, experiences a peaceful satisfaction of soul, immersed in divine love, and overflowing with heartfelt joy.

In addition to our online services, our current in-person service times are:

Thursday, 7:00 pm – Barclay Building

Sunday, 9:30 am – Barclay Building

Sunday, 11:00 am – Sanctuary
